The Factory @ Lim Tua Tow Road

 |

I was having dinner with the BF's family at one of the Teochew Porridge Stalls along Upper Serangoon Road, when we stumbled across The Factory.

Now, you'd think that The Factory would be some company located in some sort of an industrial estate, named after folks with terrible creativity.

But no. Instead, it's the name of a little dessert shop tucked along Upper Serangoon Road which serves Ice Cream, Artisan Fries, Beverages, Et cetera.

If you are big on Ice Cream, you'll probably be disappointed here because their flavors are not as many as other popular Ice Cream stores like Udders, Cold Stone Creamery, or even Ben & Jerries.

That said, The Factory prides themselves in their hand-made all natural ice-creams and toppings, which I must say is very unique and interesting. Maybe not so much of the ice-cream, but more for the toppings. I personally tried the Macerated Brandied Cherry which was very delicious (and alcoholic by the way).

The other alcoholic topping which I've tried was Baileys Chocolate Ganache, which I felt tasted very un-alcoholic.  The Honey Comb with Wheat Gem which was sweet and crunchy, tasted like sweet crispy croutons, which quickly became my favorite topping as well.

Apart from Ice Cream, The Factory is also known for their Artisan Fries. Hence, the BF's family decided to give it a try and ordered a plate of large fries to share. When the fries came, we were surprised to see that it wasn't the usual fries that we expect - long, slim, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. On the contrary, it was long, big, and soft, which I didn't like. Personally, I prefer my fries to be always crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside - regardless of what size it is.

Before we ended the night, I decided to check out their hot beverages and ended up ordering a hot Mocha. If you are a coffeeholic like me, perhaps you should give their coffees a miss and order something else instead.

All in all, I did enjoy my Ice Cream and Toppings at The Factory. But I'll probably not come back here again, because it's quite out of the way, I can probably satisfy my Ice Cream cravings at Udders or Sccopz, and grab a packet of fries from Mcdonalds along the way.
