My Emo Survival Kit

 |

Today was one of those days where no matter how hard I tried, it just felt glum and sull.

Though I was thankful that I had lots of work to keep my mind off all the negative vibe during office hours, I couldn't say the same when I got off work.

In addition to the negative 'qi', the people I wanted to meet turned me down, the comfort food I craved for was out of my reach, the sky was opening up its floodgates and the dull ache from my braces tightening session just tipped my mood off the balancing scale.

But I know that mulling over my displeasure and discontent wouldn't do me any good.

So immediately, I thought of my Emo Survival Kit:

1. Snacks
I'm a sucker for chips and ice-cream. So Lays, Ruffles, and Ice-Cream are amongst the top of my list of comfort food. Alternatively, anything cold / hot and sweet would suffice!
2. Hair Cut / Nail Art
For traumatic experiences, or when someone really steps on my toes real hard, I usually opt for the former - Hair Cut. I guess the feeling of the hairdresser "chopping" off my hair makes me feel "lighter" - as if my problems are cut away from life. It's totally BS, I know. But whatever works for me right? Ha ha!

I usually opt for the latter - Nail Art when I want to feel a tinge of femininity, or when I'm just too lazy to head down to the hairdresser. Furthermore, you need to pay the hairdresser to cut your hair. But for nail art , you can do it yourself, and that makes a cheapskate like me very happy.

3. Spongebob Cartoons
Spongebob being my favorite cartoon, always puts a smile on my face. So if I'm looking to get a good laugh, I'll play my CD of Spongebob Episodes, grab some snacks, sit back, and laugh!

Usually, either or all of the above mentioned would make me feel better almost instantaneously. But when they fail, the last resort of crying to bed always works.
