Metal On My Teeth (Part 2)

 |

It has been one month since I've put on my top braces and contrary to popular belief, I AM EATING WELL! In fact, because I take a longer time to chew my food, I end up finishing my food instead of leaving scraps of food behind. I guess I'm really thankful that I got accustomed to the metal in my teeth more quickly than expected, so I don't really have to be subjected to a porridge or a soya bean milk diet.

Any how, I had my monthly dental appointment today to tighten my top braces and fix my lower braces as well. As usual, everything went smoothly, as my orthodontist - Dr Quah began with some teeth polishing first, before putting on my lower braces.

But this time round, I experienced greater discomfort when putting on the lower braces, because my bottom lip kept brushing against the metal brackets and wire.

The discomfort and dull ache spiked when Dr Quah tightened my top braces after putting on the lower braces. It literally felt as if someone had banged my face against the wall!

After which, she then proceeded to put on 2 cement platforms on my bottom back molar. This is because my top molars have an overbite, which means that each time I grind or chew or bite with my top back molars, it will exert pressure on the bracket on the bottom braces, causing the bracket to fall off!

So now, as I'm slowly starting to get use to the full set of braces on my teeth, I can only eat food that are soft and small in size. All big pieces of meat have to be cut to smaller pieces.

Sigh. OH HOW I WISH TO DIG MY TEETH IN A BURGER NOW, or eat my favorite foods without having to have so many restrictions!
